Faux hawks simple solution to boring hair

by Darren Lim

Many of us have that secret admiration for mohawks but are not brave enough to sport it, so what do we resort to? The faux hawk.

Because faux hawks tend to be worn with short hair, many males, rather than females, are seen wearing them. Recently, the faux hawk has become more popular with its semi-conservative look as it is not too extreme and not too boring. Getting one is also very simple!

If you want a faux hawk, just follow these simple steps. First, get your sides shaved extremely short, otherwise your faux hawk will not be noticeable. As you cut the top of your hair, leave the middle portion running from the back of the head to the middle of the forehead longer than the rest of your hair. Also, be sure to gradually fade the hair as it goes from being long in the middle to being short on the sides. Once you get the haircut, apply some gel or forming cream and shape the hair in a Mohawk-like form. That’s all there is to it.

Faux hawks are very easy to style and are versatile. If one day you decide not to wear your faux hawk or if you have to take care of some professional business, you can just leave it down and your hair will look flat. However, if you are going to an extravagant birthday party, you can easily wear your faux hawk to suit the occasion. Mohawks, on the other hand, only provide two options: Mohawk or bust.

If you are looking for something simple yet fun, I definitely recommend you go for the faux hawk. Not to follow any trends or anything, but faux hawks have become widespread. David Beckham, for example, is often seen wearing his faux hawk.

In addition, the good thing about faux hawks is that it looks good on almost everybody. As long as you get a proper haircut and know how to style your hair, I am sure you will definitely enjoy your new look. Faux hawks are “in” for guys, perhaps more so than the Mohawk.
