Website publishes latest Milpitas news

by Maggie Blackburn

The new Milpitas Patch website dishes out the latest news, opinion, and entertainment, all conveniently located on the web. The website’s first issue debuted this October, with new stories updated daily.

The Patch features information on news at MHS and throughout Milpitas. In addition, the website includes a directory of addresses and phone numbers of various restaurants, schools, and other stores found in Milpitas.

The best thing about the Patch is that everything is organized and easy to find. As you open the home page, the latest stories are spread across the screen. Different tabs labeled “news,” “events,” “directory,” “marketplace,” “volunteer,” and “election ’10” make it easy to find exactly what you are looking for.

There is a wide variety of stories located on the website and since new stories are written daily, it is more frequently updated than the Milpitas Post. A search bar allows you to find events or news stories more easily, which also is a plus.
Not only does the Patch have stories, but it also has a great selection of photos and videos. The website includes both a scrapbook full of pictures and many videos that accompany stories.

One video included the Giants fans of Milpitas gathering at Stuft Pizza to watch the final World Series game. Another video featured the MHS Marching Band at their competition at Gilroy High School.

Also linked to the Patch is the Patch’s Twitter and Facebook account. The twitter gives everyone “tweets” for news on the go, while the Facebook further promotes the new website.

For a website that just started, the Patch definitely is one worth mentioning. Although it has some room for improvement, it may soon compete with the Milpitas Post. With news at your fingertips, the Patch covers everything Milpitas, and leaves no news stories untouched.
